Rediscovering the whimsical side of me: Dr. Lekha Kukreja

Trust me, we all have a quirky side! It’s just about (re)discovering it.

                       WHO ARE YOU?

Do you know ALL about yourself?

It’s said that you can’t see things that are very close to you. You have to look beyond the problem for the solution.

Being closest to oneself, you might need to distance yourself from your daily routine that has become a habit to understand who you are.

That brings us to the how did I start finding the answer to the above question.

Moving out from the place I stayed at, taking a break from my daily routine made me understand I’m more than the person I thought I was.

I faced my fears, understood my limitations and got surprised by my own courage.

I had so many questions that I was lost in the web. But getting lost in nature help me find myself.

It all started with a short trip back while I was doing my graduation, when I fell in love with the Himalayas.

I had just finished with my term exams and decided to take a backpacking trip. The moment I set foot, I felt like a different person. I transformed from the all serious “doctor in making” to a chirpy, wide eyed 5-year-old, excited to have entered a wonderland where even the air that I was breathing excited me.

I made a resolution right there, “I need to visit this place at least once a year”

And my journey began!

It has been a decade since then, and I might travel anywhere on the planet; but I just NEED to make my annual pilgrimage (though I’m not into religion, the trip feels like it) to the land. And I’m still as excited as I was when I set my foot for the first time out there.

They say the hills are old and fixed. Well, I beg to differ. The hills change the way the look every day.

They look different at different times of the day, every 4 minutes! During sunrise and sunset. I have been stopped in my tracks at times just looking at the grandeur, taking it in.

The night sky is not just about millions of stars, but galaxies, shooting stars and if you sit still, even satellites.

I believe travelling is not a physical action of taking a bus and seeing the place around. Having a checklist of all the stuff that has been “recommended” and later ticking it off your bucket list.

It is about experiencing and being overwhelmed with your surroundings

It’s about rediscovering yourself and understanding who you really are

It is about breaking your daily routine, sleeping under the stars, drinking water from the stream and cooking food on wood, trying different foods and understanding cultural diversity!

It’s about being quirky in your own way. It’s about making memories

And above all its about being with the person closest you YOU!

Let the journey begin!
