Know Your Destination

The Ladakh capital city of Leh in the Indus River valley lies on the crossroads of the historic Silk Route. The mesmerising landscape, enchanting mountains, centuries old Monasteries., palaces, stupas and natural wonders of Leh are a treat to the traveller’s eye.

It is one of the most desired tourist spots in Northern India which is on the wish list of every traveller.

Trip Itinerary

Day 01 – Arrival at Leh

    • On arrival at Leh airport, you will be met by our representative.
    • You will be escorted to the hotel and checked in. Relax after a long day of journey.
    • Complete day for the acclimatization & rest as Leh is at an altitude of 3500 metres above sea level.
    • In the evening we shall visit the Shanti Stupa which is a white- domed monument built to commemorate 2500 yrs. of Buddhism. It is one of the major attractions in Leh city.
    • Later, we shall take you for a tour of the Leh Palace erected in the 17th century, a former Royal palace overlooking the city. The design of the 9-storey palace highly resembles that of the Lahasa Potala Palace in Tibet.
    • This will be followed by return to your hotel and overnight stay & dinner in your hotel in Leh.
  • Day 02 -Leh – Sham Valley (Magnetic Hill, Sangam )

    • After breakfast, we shall go for local sightseeing in and around Leh city.
    • Our first stop will be the Hall of Fame, which is a museum located on the Leh- Kargil road. It stands as a reminder of the many sacrifices laid by our soldiers.
    • Next, we shall visit the Spituk monastery and the Mata Kali Temple on the Le- Kargil-Srinagar highway. It offers a panoramic view of the entire Leh town.
    • Later, we will take you to the famous Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, which is a highly revered gem constructed in the memory of Guru Nanak Dev ji- the founder of Sikhism. This Gurudwara is maintained by Sikhs from the Indian Army.
    • Next, will be Magnetic Hill- a gravity hill located near Leh where the layout of the area and surrounding slopes create the optical illusion of a hill. The small stretch of the road is unique because of its outright defiance of gravity.
    • After some fun at the magnetic hill, we shall visit Sangam which is the Confluence of river Zanskar and Indus point located at Nimmu on Leh- Srinagar highway.It is one of the hot tourist spots near Leh town with majestic views of the valley.
    • In evening, reach back to the hotel for an overnight stay and dinner.
  • Day 03 -Leh to Nubra via Khardungla Pass – Hunder (120 Km / 4 – 5 hrs)

    • After breakfast, drive to Nubra Valley, also known as Valley of flowers via Khardungla, the highest motorable road in the world, (18,380 ft). Nubra valley is surrounded by snow-capped Himalayan ranges which lie sandwiched between Tibet and Kashmir. This tri-armed valley is separated by Nubra (Siachen ) River and Shyok River and is quite popular for its cold desert and picturesque landscape.
    • We shall visit the Diskit Monastery after driving to Hunder. Diskit is the largest and oldest monastery in Diskit dating back to the 14th century. Its prominent attraction is the huge Maitreya Buddha statue atop it.
    • On your arrival in Hunder check in the camp. Relax !
    • After enjoying lunch, proceed to enjoy a walk on the banks of Shayok river, you can also take a ride on double humped camels on the Sand Dunes between Deskit & Hundur Village.
    • Overnight stay and dinner in Nubra.
  • Day 04- Nubra and Turtuk village

    • After breakfast, enjoy a day excursion to Turtuk village which is near the Pakistan border. It is the last northernmost village in India nestled in the Karakoram ranges. Geographically, the village was in the Baltistan region which was under the control of Pakistan until 1971 war, when the Indian soldiers captured some of the villages. Turtuk is also the gateway to the Siachen Glacier.
    • Spend your day exploring the village populated by Balti people of India.
    • Overnight stay and dinner at your hotel.
  • Day 05- Pangong – Leh back via Changla Pass (Approx 6 Hrs)

    • After breakfast, check out of the camp and drive back to Leh Enroute Chang-la which is the second highest mountain pass road in the world at 17688 ft.e
    • Later, upon reaching Karu, visit Shey Monastery. Once, Shey used to be the summer capital of Ladakh. The monastery contains a huge Shakyamuni Buddha statue and is considered to be the second largest Buddha statue in Ladakh. Later, we shall take you to the Thiksey Monastery, affiliated to the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism.
    • Later visit the famous the Druk Padma Karpo School , famously known as the 3idiot School which is a Buddhist cultural school. By evening we will take you back to the hotel for overnight stay & dinner.
  • Day 06- Pangong – Leh back via Changla Pass (Approx 6 Hrs)

    • After breakfast, check out of your hotel and transfer to the Leh Airport for a return journey
  • TRAVEL FACTS/ EXCLUSIONS

    • Any lunch or mineral water.
    • Camel ride in Nubra valley.
    • Any meals other than those specified. Expenses of personal nature such as tips, telephone calls, laundry, shopping, liquor etc.
    • Entrance fee during sightseeing, if any.
    • Vehicles will be provided on a point to point basis and will not be at disposal of the guest.
    • Any activity or sightseeing not mentioned in the itinerary.
    • Certain sightseeing places may not be covered due to bad roads or unsuitable weather conditions and no refund or sightseeing replacement is applicable in such circumstances.
    • The guests should adhere to hotel check in and check out timings. Late or early check in & check out is at the discretion of the property and Hill Gypsy does not guarantee it.
    • Any expenses arising out of unforeseen circumstances like flight / train /bus delay / any additional meals / weather conditions.
